Liposuction is a surgical procedure that breaks down and removes subcutaneous fat (fat just under the skin) in parts of the body that are more resistant to diet and exercise.

Ideal Candidate | Application Points

With the removal of fat, the skin relaxes. The more fat that is removed and the older the age of the patient, the more relaxation that will occur. Therefore, the ideal candidate for the procedure is, a young person with a problem of localized fat accumulation. Also liposuction does not correct the problem of cellulite, on the contrary in some cases it can worsen it.The areas where liposuction is usually performed are the abdomen, buttocks, thighs, knees, calves, neck (prepuce) and finally the chest in men.

Deposits | Fat Deposits

The number of fat cells in the human body is constant from adulthood and throughout life. This number depends on genetic factors and on the creation of fat cells until the completion of human development.

Thus, the more fat cells a person has “built” in childhood and adolescence, the more fat cells he or she will have in adulthood. Subsequently, depending on his diet, they “inflate” and “deflate”, but remain constant in number. For this reason, obesity of the “hyperplastic type”, that is, obesity that develops until adolescence, is more “resistant” to dieting in adulthood and easily relapses.

Process | Recovery

The procedure is performed under general or local anesthesia and lasts 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the case. The incisions through which the liposuction cannula is inserted are up to 1 cm. and are done where possible in places that are easily covered (natural skin folds).

After surgery, the patient wears a special elastic corset and remains in the hospital for a few hours or 1 day, in cases where a large amount of fat has been removed, in order to administer intravenously the fluids lost during the operation. Postoperative pain is minimal and usually resolves with standard painkillers.

The term high definition liposculpture is used to describe high definition liposuction, in which the amounts of fat removed highlight the anatomical structure of an area (such as the contour and outline of the abdominal muscles). The same amount of fat is used to sculpt another anatomical area such as the buttocks, face, arms, shoulders and any other area.
